About Me

Jessica Slatus, LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been working with adults, adolescents, children and families for over ten years.  I earned my Masters degree in Social Work at New York University and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Studies from Vassar College. I am trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and am a Certified AEDP Therapist and Supervisor.

In addition to my general practice, I specialize in working with individuals struggling with eating, exercise, and body image problems.  I was trained at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia in New York City, where I also worked as a staff therapist.  While my approach is primarily experiential and emotion-focused, I incorporate elements of behavioral therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, into my work as needed.

Some Of The Other Issues I Most Commonly Work With Include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Physical, Sexual & Emotional Abuse
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Feeling Stuck
  • Dissociation and Feeling Numb

Choosing The Right Therapist

Every therapist is different and it is important that you choose a therapist with whom you can connect. Sometimes it can be helpful to meet with multiple therapists in order to find someone whose style and personality are a good fit for you. If you would like to schedule a consultation to see how we work together, please give me a call or send me an email.

I look forward to hearing from you.

“The time will come when,
with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here.  Eat…”
