Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re starting therapy for the first time or have been in therapy before, you may be wondering about my policies and how I work.  Below are the answers to some commonly asked questions:

Is therapy covered by my health insurance?

Depending on what kind of health plan you have, you may be eligible for financial reimbursement towards your therapy bills. I am not currently an in-network provider for any insurance companies. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be able to submit claims to cover a large portion of your payment after you meet your deductible.  If you are unsure about what benefits you have, the best thing to do is to contact your insurance company directly.

How often do we meet and for how long?

Sessions are typically scheduled in 45-minute blocks at the same time each week. However, the course of treatment is different for every person, and session length, frequency of appointments, and duration of treatment may vary according to need.

Where is your office located?

My office is conveniently located in the Matrix Building at 954 North Street in Boulder.  It is easily accessible by the SKIP bus line and parking is available on site.

Do you have a sliding scale?

I feel strongly that psychotherapy should be financially accessible, and I do have a sliding fee scale. Please speak with me about your particular financial needs. If I cannot accommodate you, I would be more than happy to provide you with a referral to another clinician or a local community agency.

What is your cancellation policy?

I hope that you will come to your sessions on a weekly basis. However, I know that sometimes circumstances arise that make it difficult to attend. I ask that you give me at least 48 hours notice if you have to cancel or reschedule your appointment in order to avoid financial responsibility for the missed session.

I'd like to get started. What is the process?

Please call or email me to arrange a time to speak on the phone. After gathering some basic information about you, we will set up a time to meet in person. If we are unable to work together, I would be happy to refer you to another psychotherapist who may be more able to meet your needs.

“You will love again
the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart to itself,
to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart…”
