AEDP Therapy and Supervision

Learn about Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy

We are all innately equipped with the potential to heal and transcend life’s difficulties, but sometimes what we encounter overwhelms our capacity to cope.  Often the very symptoms that bring us into therapy come from our best attempts to take care of ourselves and manage our feelings in the moment.

My work is primarily informed by Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, an integrative model of healing that draws on attachment theory, affective neuroscience, somatic practices, and short-term dynamic psychotherapies.

AEDP takes seriously our need for human connection.  Aloneness fuels trauma, and the experience of feeling safe and accompanied in the face of difficult emotions has the power to activate our internal resources and bring about tremendous growth.  By slowing down and paying close attention to what you notice inside as we talk together we can make room for feelings and experiences that you may have previously avoided or felt overwhelmed by on your own.

As an AEDP therapist, I will encourage us to be curious about both the areas in which you feel stuck as well as those in which you feel strong and most authentic.  Within the context of a relationship that feels safe and secure, AEDP works by harnessing the momentum of bodily-rooted emotional experience to connect you to your inner resilience and help us to best address what is troubling you. Taking time to feel into and reflect on the experience together further galvanizes the experience of change, helping you to deepen and expand into new ways of being with yourself and others.

AEDP is a model that works well in addressing a variety of difficulties, including anxiety; physical, sexual and emotional trauma and post-traumatic stress; depression; relational problems; eating disorders; and a general sense of feeling blocked or unable to move forward.

from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes,
peel your own image
from the mirror…”
